Review: Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

Earlier this year my boyfriend surprised me with the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette for Valentine’s day. Best boyfriend award definitely goes to him. After owning this palette since then I figured maybe it was time to review this palette. It’s absolutely beautiful and I don’t believe it gets as much recognition as it deserves.

Product’s claim:

What it is:
A mirrored compact packed with a dozen never-before-seen rose-hued neutrals, plus a double-ended brush and an Eyeshadow Primer Potion sampler.

What it does:

Dare to get Naked all over again with Urban Decay’s latest shadow palette. Naked3 debuts 12 insanely beautiful rose-hued neutrals in an impressive range of shades—from pale, shimmery pink to deep black matte with red microglitter—in ultrasmooth matte, pearl, and glimmering metallic finishes. Each shadow features Urban Decay’s Pigment Infusion System™, the proprietary blend of ingredients that gives every shade its velvety texture, rich color, serious staying power, and blendability.

This set contains:
– 0.05 oz x 12 Eyeshadows in Strange (pale neutral pink matte-satin), Dust (pale metallic pink shimmer w/iridescent micro-glitter), Burnout (light pinky-peach satin), Limit (light dusty rose matte), Buzz (metallic rose shimmer w/silver microglitter), Trick (light metallic pinky-copper shimmer w/tonal microsparkle), Nooner (medium pinky-brown matte), Liar (medium metallic mauve shimmer), Factory (pinky-brown satin), Mugshot (metallic taupe shimmer w/slight pink shift), Darkside (deep taupe-mauve satin), Blackheart (smoky black matte w/rosy red microsparkle)
– Double-ended brush
– 4 x 0.025 oz Eyeshadow Primer Potion sample packettes

What it is formulated without:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates

The Pros:

  1. Highly pigmented, you hardly need to use any product to achieve a beautiful eye look.
  2. So creamy, these eye shadows blend so easily and go on so smoothly.
  3. Super easy to create different eye looks, how can one go wrong with twelve shades that all go together beautifully?
  4. This palette will last you forever, no joke.

The Cons:

  1. Cost, this palette retails for $64.00 (Canadian).
  2. There’s the possibility of fallout, due to how pigmented they are.
  3. More shimmery shades than there are mattes, this can be a deal breaker for some individuals. As well as shimmery shades can be more unforgiving.
  4. The brush this palette comes with kind of sucks, I think I’ve used this brush maybe once or twice?
  5. Some of the lighter shades may not show up well depending on your skin tone.

Conclusion: There’s no denying that it’s a beautiful palette, with the most beautiful rose hued eye shadows that I’ve ever seen. If you have the money to spend on this palette, I would definitely encourage you to. There’s many things that I absolutely love about Naked 3. I love how these shades are so flattering and really make my brown eyes stand out. I’m also a fan of shimmery shades so this palette and me get along well. when I first received this palette I used it every day for the first four months and if you look at the pictures below can hardly tell I’ve used it. There have been a few times that I’ve wished for a few more matte shades or at the very least a darker matte shade to use in the crease. But no palette is perfect and the Naked 3 is pretty close to it. This palette is well worth it’s $63.00 price tag and contains a variety of neutral rose hued shades that are a nice alternative to the usual  brown/copper neutral colours out there.

*Note for those who  look at the pictures I’ve posted below:

I’d like to first apologize for the pictures containing the swatches on my arm, there are scars on there that can be a little distracting. Second, for some reason my camera would not pick up on the rose hues in some of the shades and made them look more brown than they are.
