Review: MAC Lipstick in Lady Danger

Review: MAC Lipstick in Lady Danger

So I recently got my hair cut and coloured, whilst for some people this is not a biggie, I have had my hair the exact same for my entire lifetime. I was feeling a little down about how the cut turned out and a new lipstick pick me up was exactly what I needed. Cue MAC’s lipstick in Lady Danger. It has a matte finish and is described as a, “Vivid bright coral red”. Their matte lipsticks have always been my favourite and this one does not disappoint. MAC’s matte lipsticks are weird sometimes. Some are super dry whereas others are creamier. This one is definitely on the creamier side of the matte scale. It applies easily and then does not budge or smear. I personally don’t find this to be drying but everyone is different. I love that it is an orange hued lipstick as I have never ventured into this orangey lipstick territory before.  I happened to get this right at the time the Shadescents collection is out, so this means the packaging is super cute for this product. In case you’re wondering what this means it’s, “An iconic Lipstick with package shade-matched to the Lipstick colour”. This retails for $21.00 (Canadian) for 3 g / 0.1 US oz of product.

Pros:

  1. SUPER CUTE PACKAGING, I honestly wish they would do this with all of their lipsticks. Like yes, I love the timeless and classic black but this is so CUTE
  2. On the creamier side of the matte scale,  even if you’re scared of matte finishes give this one a whirl
  3. Orange hued, it’s a nice change from the million of blue hued lipsticks out there. I personally find it to be very flattering on most skintones
  4. Price, retailing at $21.00 (Canadian) for 3 g / 0.1 oz of product. It’s a pretty damn good price. Yes, more than drugstore but way better quality. And less than certain high end ones,so it’s really a steal at this price
  5. Great pigmentation, I never find a lipliner or more than one swipe to be necessary
  6. Vanilla scented, I love all things vanilla. I especially love when my makeup doesn’t smell like chemicals

Cons:

  1. Vanilla scented, if you are not a fan of scented products or vanilla this could bother you
  2. Price, if you’re a bitch on a budget than this could be hard to justify
  3. Matte finish, if you are prone to dry lips or not used to wearing mattes this could be drying to your lips
